English is a CORE subject at Eaglehawk Secondary College and undertaken by all students across years 7-10. Within this structured program, students have the opportunity to work through a range of topics and texts as they progress through in preparation for VCE, VCAL or post compulsory studies.
Accompanying the study of a range of novels and films, our writing units include: narrative and creative writing, persuasive writing, flash fiction, autobiographical writing, poetry, digital publishing and non-fiction writing such as feature articles.
Elective subjects for 2018 include Radio Active and College Magazine which are available to both Year 9 and 10 students.
ESC’s English program is written in accordance with new Victorian Curriculum and is a pathway for VCE English, VCE Literature and VCE English Language as well as VCAL Literacy at the year 11 level or entry to the work force at the end of year 10.
Humanities is a subject that studies History, Geography and Economics at Years 7 and 8. At Years 9 and 10 we operate an elective system with History and The Modern World to be offered as a core subject. Some of the electives are Basic Law, Money and Business, Cross-Age Tutoring, Law and Order, Money and Me, and Geography.
